Frequently asked questions
Are you just a designer? |
I design, therefore yes, I’m a designer. Graphic designer, print designer, user interface designer, web designer, content designer... Above all, I’m a problem solver for organizational communicators such as business owners and marketers. My skills and interests also intersect with those of writers and illustrators.

Are you also a marketer?
|
What is your specialty?
|
What is your method or process? |
I’m most valuable to clients who open up and show me the good, the bad, and the ugly aspects of their situation. As your creative co-conspirator, I ask a lot of dumb, but increasingly helpful questions . We then iterate our way to a solution that befits the situation and the stakeholders. Customers then connect and eventually trust and transact with you. Everybody wins!
|
How much do you charge? |
As with many types of custom “builds” the answer is “it depends.” Not all websites, trade shows or printed pieces are identically simple or complex. Once I have a grasp on what’s needed, I’m happy to give you a price.
|
How do you charge? |
I have no price list. Typically I charge per project, but with some repeat clients, an hourly rate makes more sense. What is that rate? Again, “it depends.” I'm eager to strike a deal that we both find acceptable.
|
Can I find someone cheaper than you? |
Absolutely – there is always a less expensive alternative! Options abound online. The challenge is to find a trustworthy working chemistry.
|
Do you have employees? |
No, I am a sole proprietor business. Many projects get fulfilled with my skills alone, while other projects require a managed and directed creative team. Members of that team can be from your contacts or from mine.
|
I’m a business person and don’t understand creative types. Why are you all so... weird? |
Our eccentricities sometimes reflect the free-association exercises happening in our heads. We’re paid to think differently in order to create what didn’t already exist and to make things happen that you can’t effectively do on your own. But the best creative people are true team players that are having fun. Most of us are relatable and reliable problem solvers who can manage or be managed for your benefit.
|
What else interests you – any hobbies? |
I’m a student of what makes us human, so I range widely. But the topics I tend to subscribe to are brain science, behavioral sciences, and psychology. I’m attuned to blind spot recognition and the manipulation of biases in people and in groups. A warm sun with cool breezes followed by a bourbon at sunset is a proud weaknesses.
